Tigerella, an Italian-style restaurant in Western Market, closed its doors Monday after less than a year in business.

Tigerella, an Italian-style restaurant located in the Western Market Foodhall, closed its doors on Monday after less than a year in business.

Tiggerella’s Instagram post announcing the closing Monday said a lack of office workers returning to the area made the restaurant’s business model “unsustainable.” The article says Tigerella will “pass the torch” to another vendor who finds more success.

“The tiger is sleeping,” the post says. We are very proud of what we have accomplished and could not have done it without our amazing team, the heart and soul of Tigerella.

Tigerella staff did not return multiple requests for comment.

The restaurant opened last July in West Market next to Tigerella Cafe. The Tigerella Cafe side closed in January due to competition from neighboring coffee shops and slow business, while bagel shop Bullfrog Bagels moved into the cafe space.

“Thank you to everyone who came to West Market to visit us and our neighbors,” reads the Instagram post. “Please keep supporting small businesses!”
