MARGATE, New Jersey (WPVI) — It is often said that one person’s waste is another person’s wealth. To prove that, this weekend, a major retailer is hosting a recycling event at its Jersey Shore store.

The “Exchange Project” is a chance to go in with a bag of your worn items and leave with a whole new outfit.

Truth be told, we all love cool, even new items that take up space in our closets.

This weekend, you can head all the way to Margate for morning mimosas, shopping and swapping and all the new, trendy things you love.

“The Exchange Project is what I like to call a high-end clothing exchange,” says founder Carly Ridloff. “Really, it’s like you’re shopping in your best friend’s closet. You’re adding new things to your wardrobe. Everything is pre-loved, but I do a very strict editing process.”

Ridloff started the “Exchange Project” a year ago after watching a documentary about fast fashion that piles up in our trash.

Her event gives women an opportunity to stock and restock their pantries in a sustainable and social way.

“We accept shoes. We make accessories. We make bags. Whatever you want to continue, we accept,” Ridloff said. “If it doesn’t meet our standards, we’ll happily hand it over to you.”

In this case, those leftover items go to the Street Live Foundation, which helps the homeless.

The event is this Saturday in Margate from 9am to 12pm.

Once you register you will get exact details.

Entry is $65 and each item is quality and stylish. You leave with as much stuff as you brought.
