Tech and biotech layoffs have intensified in the Bay Area, with a new round of layoffs at tech titan Microsoft and genetic testing firm Natera, government filings show.
The latest round of layoffs will eliminate 115 tech and biotech jobs in the Bay Area.
Microsoft said it plans to eliminate 56 locations in Mountain View and San Jose.
Natera said it has decided to cut 59 jobs in San Carlos.
With the recent reported layoffs, it has become clear that multiple rounds of layoffs are becoming a more common occurrence.
Both Microsoft and Natera have previously filed WARN notices with the state EDD announcing prior layoff incidents in the Bay Area.
Tech and biotech companies have announced plans to cut at least 23,500 jobs in the Bay Area starting in July 2022. Some of the reductions have taken place and others have not yet taken place.
