Writer-director Choi Dong-hoon (Murder) reaches into every corner of the film to lick it off Alienoid. Like many such films, Alienoid It’s action-packed, full of laughs, and capable of great twists, but what sets it apart from other movies is the actual time travel. By taking on multiple stories at once, Alienoid It’s not perfect, but it’s always working towards its goal. Except for the out-of-place robots, CGI in Alienoid It is beyond service. The story is very high concept and the voice is fully aware of itself, which leads to a truly enjoyable experience.
When an intergalactic prison guard (Kim Woo-bin) discovers that the criminals are now in hiding full time, he must go back in time to recapture them. These alien prisoners are trapped inside humans, so they die when the human body dies without the host knowing. The guard has his work cut out for him in 380 AD Korea when a prison break goes horribly wrong. Although the Guardian is a robot in human form, he takes on multiple personalities, one of which he rescues an infant girl Ian (Choi Yu-ri) from certain death and brings her to the present timeline. As she grows older, In (now played by Kim Tae-ri) memories of robots and aliens begin to return, and she questions her “father’s” work. The Guardian tries to outrun her until she finds herself caught up in a thousand-year-old time-traveling battle, until she seduces him.
Alienoid In many ways it is the best part of the great genre films. Combining the wire work A proud tiger, a hidden dragon With action and CGI, a Marvel movie is definitely a recipe for success. The performance and the director all seem to be on the same page. Like a gun used in 4th century Korea, there’s a combination of current and futuristic technology that feels more natural than it should. The ambitious swings taken by Choi strike many times, and the missteps come at various points in the film. There’s something very interesting about a historical warrior going toe-to-toe with a man in a Tom Ford suit.
CGI by Alienoid It’s mostly good at making small scenes stand out. The guardian is an alien in human form, but it is a warrior model of its kind. This inspires a completely black metal suit when in battle, which has a very good design and looks even better in practice. The alien villains also have an innovative design. While they may seem like an average rendition of Alien, two things set them apart from the norm. They are several feet taller and more muscular than the average human, and when they are in a foreign land, their human army floats above them like terrifying balloons. However, all these aspects fit perfectly in the beauty of the film. Other choices, however, are not so good. There’s a massive outbreak of toxic red bubbles that look super cool and super cute, but look out of place. To make matters worse, when the guard fights his counterpart, the red robot plans to release the prisoners, the contrast couldn’t be more stark. If this level were Portalthe red robot looks perfect, but set on a fully fleshed out motion graphics world, the execution comes incomplete.
Alienoid It weaves genre, tone, and history to create a fascinating new world. Despite some CGI craziness, most of the story’s sci-fi feel is pretty good. Since the plot is the engine of the film and Choi is having a great time in front of and behind the camera, the dialogue doesn’t really need singing. Alienoid He has great ambitions and fulfills almost all of them.
