As a long federal holiday, most Americans get a three-day weekend and a break from their normal Monday routine in recognition of Memorial Day.
Memorial Day is intended to celebrate and honor those who have died while serving in the U.S. military, and many businesses and organizations close in observance. Many Houston restaurants will be open regular Monday hours on the holiday.
