What is the most popular business jet in America? Names associated with sex, such as Gulfstream or Global, are not iconic. The 2022 super light jet Cirrus SF50 or Cirrus Jet is a name not many people know. Embraer Phenom 300/300E light-jet series, which had 61 deliveries last year. , I claim second place.

Business jet deliveries increased to 712 units in 2022, a modest increase of two jets compared to 2021, according to the latest General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) data. The company showed comprehensive data from 10 manufacturers, from major business-jet makers such as Bombardier, Gulfstream, Embraer, Tecron and Dassault to smaller specialty companies such as Cirrus, Pilatus and Honda Aircraft Company. For most major brands, the report did not break down individual model shipments.

The report 2020 shows total recoveries from a nadir of 644 shipments due to the pandemic—the lowest birth rate in private aviation in what some are calling the “lost decade” from 2008 to 2018. The peak of 809 was not reached until 2019.

Among “bizliners”—business jets converted to become private or corporate jets—Airbus’ ACJ division had eight deliveries last year, while chief competitor Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) had just two. Of course, those commercial airplanes were bigger, wider and more expensive compared to the rest of the industry.

Tekron Aviation has delivered 178 jets on the quote line. The quote Latitude above is very popular.

Techron Aviation, maker of the Citation range of business jets, was the top producer by volume in 2022, with 178 units. Bombardier had 123 deliveries from the Learjet (now discontinued), Challenger and Global Series, 50 in the Challenger 350/650 alone and 70 in the larger-body, ultra-long-range Global Series. Gulfstream Aerospace had 120 deliveries in 2022, including 24 units in its 280 series and 96 in the remaining mid-range and large-cabin body series. The French company Dassault Aviation offers 32 units in its product range. The report did not reveal the class offerings between these three contenders.

Among specialty manufacturers, Honda Aircraft Company reported 17 HondaJet deliveries, Pilatus delivered 40 PC-24 units and Cirrus SF50 delivered 90 units.

It’s no surprise that very few of the biggest and best business jets have ever made it to the giant commercial jets from Boeing and Airbus.

Following the larger Cirrus and Phenom 300 numbers, the Citation Latitude had 42 deliveries, followed by the Citation M2 with 33 deliveries. The middle and upper middle categories showed the highest growth rate last year, from 171 to 197 aircraft.

Other aircraft types reported much larger numbers. In the piston-aircraft category, 1,524 units were delivered last year, up 8 percent from 2021, and turboprop aircraft up 10.4 percent to 482 units. The total value of jets shipped in all categories by 2022 is a whopping $22.9 billion. GAMA will report first quarter shipment numbers in May.
