A husband and wife on a quest to see every country on the planet are sharing their epic adventure – after welcoming a baby on the way.
Utah couple Chloe and Jordan Egbert quit their jobs and sold all of their worldly possessions, including their house and car, in early 2019 to fund a $62,000 trip around the world.
Chloe, 28, told the South West News Service: “We want to take control of our own future. “Our aim is to visit every country. We have achieved 106 so far and we have 89 to go.
The intrepid couple headed to Europe in May 2019, and spent the next eight months exploring the continent.
In March 2020, they traveled to the Pacific Ocean, traveling to Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga, before the Covid-19 pandemic put an end to their plans.
Faced with border closures and travel restrictions, resourceful Chloe and Jordan decide to hunt in Hawaii, realizing they can still get a taste of the tropics in America.
While there, Chloe became pregnant, and the couple welcomed their son, Lennon, in February 2021.
But a newborn baby didn’t stop Egberts from trying to travel to every country in the world. In September 2021, the couple embarked on their international adventure again – this time full of sound.
The trio travel to South America, but Chloe and Jordan’s wanderlust turns to misery when they realize that traveling with a toddler isn’t as easy as it seems. Additionally, many countries still had mandates and restrictions that prevented intrepid explorers.
“Coming back was tough,” Chloe said. “We were going to places where there were masks and attractions were closed. The rules were very strict, and by November I was miserable. I had a son who couldn’t sleep unless he was on me.
Defeated, the pair return to the US, where Chloe finally faces a health emergency, undergoing surgery to remove 20 painful kidney stones.
“I realized life is too short,” says the young mum, who says a health scare has helped her rekindle her desire to travel.
So, in June of this year, Khloe, Jordan and young Lennon took to the skies again.
The family spent part of the summer in London enjoying their newfound freedom as the masks came off and people celebrated the end of the pandemic.
“People were out, happy and excited and everything was back to normal. “That’s when I realized we could do it again, a trip back in time,” she beamed.
Egberts is currently in Andorra, and will head to Monaco next week.
As for her favorite country of the 106 she’s visited so far, Chloe chose New Zealand.
“New Zealand is very clean and comfortable,” she says admiringly. “Kiwis are crazy, they’re the biggest adrenaline junkies and I love it.”
Meanwhile, the young family is definitely not cutting corners — they’re only staying at Marriott hotels.
We believe in being loyal to a hotel because loyalty pays off. “We are very loyal to Marriott and have been with them for almost two years and over 500 nights,” said Chloe.
“At every Marriott we stay at, we get free breakfast, room upgrades and late check-out—we’re always treated like family,” she advises.
And while the young family may not have many material assets to their name, they’ve become popular travel influencers on social media, with sponsored posts helping to boost their bank balance and keep their adventures going.
