Turkish Airlines (THY) announced on Saturday that the Turkish flag carrier continued to set a record as the “world’s largest network carrier” in terms of seat capacity on international routes in August.
The airline increased its seat capacity by 14 percent in August compared to 2019.
The number of passengers on Turkish Airlines flights in July and August reached 7.8 million from before the outbreak. The figures for both months are historical highs for THY.
Ahmet Bolat, chairman of the board and chairman of the executive committee of Turkish Airlines, praised the company for its success in increasing the passenger carrying capacity on international routes and overall passenger number per seat kilometer (ASK).
“Since August, we have become the world’s largest network carrier in terms of seat capacity on international flights,” he said.
Founded in 1933, Turkish Airlines flies to 340 destinations in 129 countries with 388 aircraft.
