Wilmington’s Public Works Department has compiled a list of roads that could be done next week by the city itself or by DelDOT, Delmarva Power or private contractors. The attached data is from Monday September 26 to Friday September 30, 2022.
The city’s website features a daily updated real-time map so you can track changes to the weekly schedule due to weather or construction-related delays. Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams said every effort will be made to compile the most accurate list each week of road projects that could affect your commute through the city the following week. However, she cautioned that the timelines for the listed projects could change if they are delayed by factors such as weather.
Downtown Farmers Market:
Drivers are also reminded that the Downtown Farmers Market will be held in Rodney Square from 10am to 2pm every Wednesday – rain or shine – through October. For this reason, the market street between 10Th and 11Th Roads will be closed to vehicular traffic every Wednesday from 8am to 3pm.
Restore the I-95 Corridor Project:
Phase two of the Delaware Department of Transportation’s (DELDOT) two-year reconstruction project to resurface and resurface Interstate 95 in Wilmington is underway. DelDOT also announced that drainage and paving work near the 7A/SR 52 and Exit 8/US 202 interchanges will require the closure of Exit 7A/SR 52 South and weekend closures of I-95 Southbound through Wilmington.
DelDOT advises drivers of several upcoming I-95 ramp closures:
• Exit 7A, SR 52 South/Delaware Avenue from I-95 Southbound – The beginning of the weekend closing Sunday, September 25 as if 8 o’clock in the afternoon And continue until night Monday, September 26 at 5 p.m.
• Exit 6, MLK Boulevard/5Th South-bound exit of I-95 – The beginning of the closing of the night Tuesday, September 27 as if 8 o’clock in the afternoon And continue until night Wednesday, September 28 at 5 p.m.
• Southbound I-95 – Total closure from Route 202 to I-495, including 2Th Highway to I-95 Southbound, from Friday, September 30 as if 8 o’clock in the afternoon Through Monday October 3 as if 5 o’clock in the afternoon
