Box Score YPSILANTI, Mich. – With a 3-1 lead against Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, the Northern Illinois University women’s tennis team won three sets to earn a 4-3 comeback victory over the Eagles at the Chippewa Club on Friday.
The Huskies fell behind 1-0 after EMU scored the winning run on Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. NIU’s Diana Lukyanova EMU’s Wendy Zhang put the first point on the board with a 6-1, 6-1 win. The Eagles took a 3-1 lead at Nos. 4 and 3 singles and needed only one of their last three singles matches to win the match.
NIU’s Erica Dmitriev, Isabella Riggi And Angelica Ross He had other ideas. At No. 1 singles, Dimitriev and EMU’s Andrea Quiroz split the first two sets and tied the third set 4-4. Dmitriev won the next two games to take the match 6-4 and the points for NIU.
Meanwhile, after losing the first set with 5 singles, 6-0 Isabella Riggi And EMU’s Linda Nga went to match in the second set. In the final game, Riggi saved four game points, one of which would have given the Eagles the win. After winning the set 11-9, Rigi won the third game 6-3 to level the team score at 3-3.

With the win, NIU improved to 12-12 overall on the season and snapped a four-game losing streak in MAC matches to improve to 2-4 against league opponents. EMU is 5-6 overall, 2-4 in the MAC. The Huskies and Eagles meet again in a week, this time in DeKalb. That match is scheduled for Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
