Netflix has debuted season two of Next in Fashion, a new reality competition show where up-and-coming fashion designers compete for a $200,000 grand prize and a chance to launch their creations on Rent the Runway’s e-commerce platform.

This season was hosted and judged by Tan France’s Queer Eye and supermodel Gigi Hadid, with a guest panel including Vogue contributing editor Gabriela Carefa-Johnson, Donatella Versace, Emma Chamberlain and Bella Hadid. Each episode features designers taking on a themed challenge, such as creating a ball gown worthy of the Met Gala or designing a transformational outfit that could be featured on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

After several rounds, the original 12 contestants were whittled down to the final three: Bao Tranchi, Deontre Hancock and Nigel Xavier. These finalists had to show a collection of eight looks on the final runway over three days with the help of experienced sewers. Nigel emerged victorious with a Woodstock-inspired collection and stunning show stopper, earning him the title Next in Fashion.

Who is Nigel Xavier?

Since his big win, Nigel Xavier has been busy with various projects. He will reportedly host the Culture + Diversity panel. Additionally, he exhibited his work at CultureCon in New York City, a conference for creatives and young professionals, and had some of his clothing featured in GQ magazine.

In an interview with Tudum, Nigel discussed his future plans, hoping to take the clothing to a more mass market level. He sees himself as an artist rather than a fashion designer and wants to leave a legacy. Although she gets bored easily, she is focused on growing the business while maintaining her creative vision. Nigel’s style draws inspiration from the fashion and music industry of the 90s and early 2000s, known for his unique patchwork and textiles.

The next win in fashion is expected to propel Nigel’s career to new heights, as evidenced by his growing Instagram followers from 16k to 131k. He has already designed for many music clients including 2 Chainz. Nigel attributes his versatility and open-mindedness to his experience with different cultures. His most celebrated invention is a pair of oversized denim jeans that can fit up to six people.
