Corhen has named the 1935 building The Thenery in honor of its great history. It was built by the federal government to educate young people aged 18-24 in agricultural sciences and soil research.

“They basically taught students how to grow food in clay soils,” Corhen said.

Growing up beyond their means, the students packed most of their produce and distributed it to the community, earning it the nickname “Sugarcane.”

The building was used to manufacture aircraft parts to support World War II efforts. He later served as a technical education center in the High School District for many years. Linda and Kevin Podvin bought the building in 1998 and their interior design work was done by Kate in Courtney and Leigh.

Two more businesses have been launched. Steve Stern, along with Green Home Solutions and the Denver Bozer-owned Ambient Glow Massage, share the lowest. Corhen said he met with Stern and Bozer through the Great Lakes Business Network International (BNI). A fourth office space of about 600 square feet is nearing completion and a tenant is being sought.

Coroner bought the building and approximately one and a half acres of land in November. Todd Stack Construction is transforming it into a commercial hub with the help of many local contractors, including advanced and advanced air conditioning, plumbing, heating and cooling. “The people who do business with me are the people I work with,” Corhen said.

Michael Stark, manager of the agency’s office, said the change in the building was impressive. Podwin’s nephew, Stark, feels a connection to the station.

Stark said, “I know that I will work here for the rest of my life in the building where my mother and aunt and uncle built successful businesses.
