Milford, Del. (July 21, 2022) – The Delaware Small Business Division on Thursday recognized 10 small businesses as winners of the fifth round of Incentive Development, Growth and Expansion (EDGE) grants. Winners in the final round of competition included a company that created a reversible coronary stent, a Puerto Rican-inspired bakery, an outdoor baseball facility and a bicycle studio.
Governor John Carney and Acting Director of the Department of Small Business Regina Mitchell announced the companies at an event at My Sister’s Deed in Milford, one of the small businesses awarded this round of EDGE grants.
“Through the EDGE grant program, small businesses are provided with much-needed capital support that they may not otherwise have access to,” he said. Governor Carney. “The small businesses awarded this latest round of grants represent the best that Delaware has to offer, and we’re excited to see how the grant funding will help them grow their businesses.”
Businesses that are less than five years old and employ no more than 10 employees can apply for EDGE grants. The grants are awarded through a competitive selection process. STEM-based companies can receive up to $100,000 for eligible expenses, while entrepreneurial class (non-STEM) businesses can receive up to $50,000.
EDGE is a matching gift program. The Small Business Division will match the winning business on a 3-to-1 basis. The business can spend the EDGE funds on expenses that help improve the company’s long-term chances of success, such as a marketing campaign to attract more customers or the purchase of necessary equipment to increase production capacity.
“The more than 25,000 small businesses that employ more than half of our state’s workforce and generate at least $11 billion in payroll are vital to our state’s economy.” Secretary of State Jeff Bullock said. “The EDGE grant program provides these driven entrepreneurs with the capital they need to start or grow their businesses and reach their full potential.”
EDGE Since its launch in 2019, $3.75 million has been awarded to 60 promising Delaware small businesses ranging from wearable medical devices to agriculture to restaurants.

My Sister’s Mistake received $50,000 in EDGE grant funding this round. The business will use the grant money to purchase additional refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. With the expanded fridge space, Sister’s Mistakes will be able to complete more custom cake orders, hire more staff and extend their hours for special events.
“We are honored and excited to be selected as the winner of this round of EDGE grant funding.” said Angie Robel, co-owner of My Sister’s Fault. “Since opening in 2017, our business has grown significantly, and our current equipment cannot meet the needs of our customers. EDGE’s funding will allow us to purchase new, larger equipment so we can continue to grow our business.”

Carbon Reform (New York)
Proprietary Carbon Dioxide (CO2) recording technology called Carbon Capsule. The device can transform into a commercial building’s ventilation system, improving indoor air quality for occupants, creating energy savings for building owners, and directly capturing and returning tons of CO.2 to expensive limestone production each year. Carbon Refinement will use the EDGE grant funding to purchase capital equipment to take it to the next stage of development, including the production of the first 10 carbon capsule commercial units.
Cosmos Pharmaceuticals (Middletown)
Cosmos Pharmaceuticals has developed a solution to combat prescription drug abuse and improve personalized patient care by introducing Fortiscap, a simple, personalized medication locker. Fortiscap, a universal pill bottle cap, secures the patient’s prescription with a unique biometric signature and tracks robust medication use throughout the course of treatment. The company will use the EDGE grant for equipment needed to bring their product to market and office space on the University of Delaware’s STAR campus.
Hartlon (Wilmington)
Hartlon developed a bioresorbable vascular stent designed to eliminate pain, non-healing wounds and the risk of limb amputation due to poor circulation below the knee. After a medical doctor opens an artery, the patented HARTLON Stent is designed to be inserted into the opening to provide temporary support until the artery heals, and then the stent dissolves into the artery’s long-term natural open state. The company will use the EDGE grant for laboratory space, manufacturing facilities and preclinical research to demonstrate performance.
G-Flash LLC (Newark)
G-Flash LLC is working to bring Green Flash Chromatography (GFC®) to the pharmaceutical industry. Flash chromatography is a chemical separation technique used to separate chemical compounds into their individual components. The company will use the EDGE funding to bring its new technologies to market faster, as well as integrate new unit hardware and software.
Moonprint Solutions (Dover)
Moonprint Solutions is an engineering company with services that include product development, consulting and prototyping. The EDGE grant will be used for computer numerically controlled material placement/cutting to support soft goods prototyping and manufacturing.
Entrepreneurial department
Creek View Psychological Assessment (Newark)
Creek View Assessment Center is a small private group practice of clinical, school and neuropsychologists. The business offers specialized psychological testing, including autism, psychoeducational and disability assessments. The business will use the EDGE funding to further invest in advanced technology and training for psychological test administration, marketing and other providers in the state of Delaware.
Improved Edge (Dover)
Enhanced Edge LLC is a mental health consulting firm specializing in the treatment of full-spectrum mental illness through Alpha-Stim, QEEG brain mapping, biofeedback and neurofeedback. The EDGE grant will be used to build various equipment, infrastructure and marketing developments. The most important development is the “dry” QEEG brain scanner, which allows the company to triple the number of clients it can treat per day.
My Sister’s Mistake (Milford)
My Sister’s Mistake is a Puerto Rican-inspired bakery owned by sisters Angie and Russ Rubens. The bakery opened its doors in 2017 and currently has 10 employees. During the pandemic, the owners switched their operations to online orders and takeout only. Since then, the bakery’s sales have increased significantly. My Sister’s Fault will use their EDGE grant funds to purchase new refrigeration and freezer equipment, which will allow them to fill more custom cake orders, hire more staff, and extend their hours for special events.
Salt Fitness (Rehobot)
Salt Fitness is a boutique fitness cycling studio that offers a personalized experience focused on uplifting each other, fostering community and relationships, breaking down life’s walls, full body wellness, high energy music, sweaty workouts, and love and support. Area. The EDGE grant will be used to open a second studio in Milford, promote advertising and teacher retention, and complete improvements to the West Rehoboth Beach area.
STATS Tournaments (Bear)
STATS Sports Complex LLC is an outdoor baseball facility that uses sports to encourage youth success beyond the field. What began as a tournament management effort has grown into a full-service facility that serves more than 300 teams, hosts nearly 600 games and hosts 12 baseball tournaments. The business will use EDGE funding to help STATS host an additional 240 little league, high school, college and travel baseball teams, as well as six additional tournaments each year.
