More than $1 million, 16 guns seized in Medford black market marijuana bust

MEDFORD, Ore. (KPTV) – More than $1 million in cash and several firearms have been seized from a black market marijuana delivery operation in Medford, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The sheriff’s office said detectives with the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force (SOHTCTF) served two search warrants on the morning of May 13. A year-long investigation into the illegal black market of marijuana and other illegal substances from southern Oregon across the United States.

The first warrant was served at a Propack and Ship business in the 2700 block of West Main Street. The second was a home in the 2500 block of Tahitian Avenue.

The sheriff’s office said investigators found $1,191,970 in cash and 16 guns when they searched the business. Drug detector K-9 reportedly alerted on several packages in the business. The Sheriff’s Office said additional search warrants will be served on those packages.

The Sheriff’s Office announced that several suspects were located during the investigation. Jonathan James Quintero, 53, was located at the business and interviewed and criminal charges are pending further investigation. Matthew James Sachen, 28, was located at his home and interviewed, and criminal charges are pending.

During the course of the investigation, several suspects were located and interviewed, and additional cases of Propac and Shipp being used for illegal purposes were discovered, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Those people will be contacted and interviewed about their participation.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information has been released yet.
