MasterCard introduces himself to brand ambassadors Ian Polter and Graham McDowell in the LIV Golf Series Sports Business Journal Reported.

MasterCard has confirmed the appointment of Senior Vice President of Communications SBJ On Friday, the company’s relationship with Poulter and McDowell was blocked after the couple and several others jumped into rival LIV golf, realizing their uncertainty about their participation in the PGA Tour. (McDowell dropped his PGA Tour card shortly before the first LIV event near London.)

SBJ History Poter mentions that he signed a support agreement with MasterCard in 2009 and that McDowell joined the brand in 2011.

Polter did not wear the MasterCard logo on his shirt at last week’s LIV event in Oregon, but the logo was returned to his neck during this week’s opening round of the Genesis Scotland Open in collaboration with the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. Paul also wears the Stanley Black and Decker logo, which he signed in early 2022. Both logos were spotted on Poulter Clothing in the second round of Scotland Friday, as well as logos for Titleist and FootJoy, the watchmaker’s Audge Pifet membership program Aurae Lifestyle and private jet company NetJets.

In Scotland, Poter wore the logic for the LIV team.

McDowell was interrupted by another financial sponsor. The Royal Bank of Canada has dropped the former US Open winner to RIV without appearing at the RBC Canadian Open.

Polter won a temporary court order with other LIV players, including Adrian Otaegi of Spain and Justin Harding of South Africa, to play in the Scottish Open after being banned from the DP World Tour by the previous European tour. Harding opened the Scottish Open with 65 before winning 74 in the second round.

SBJ did not say how long the “pause” between the MasterCard and the two players would last or what the reasons for the reduction could end.

After announcing plans to join LIV Golf, Polter and McDowell are not the first players to miss deals or sponsors. Phil Mikelson, who signed to play for LIV, has seen several business contacts canceled or suspended after a PGA Tour game. In particular, Calawai, a long-time sponsor, announced it was terminating its relationship with Mikelsen in February, and last year’s PGA Championship winner did not appear on any of its traditional logos at LIV events.
