It took a few hours for the Pac-12’s thin college football playoff to go away.
Hours after No. 11 Oregon was swept by No. 3 Georgia, No. 7 Utah fell to the unranked Swamp Florida Gators.
The Utah Utes found themselves trailing 29-26 in the red-zone less than a minute later when quarterback Cam Rising threw a costly interception. Florida kneed the ball and ran out the clock.
Billy Napier’s first significant win at Florida and a costly loss to Utah and the Pac-12.
“Florida closes out win over No. 7 Utah in this end zone,” writes ESPN.
SEC fans are having a field day with this.
“Georgia blew out Oregon, Florida beat the best team in the conference in the middle of nowhere, Utah is the best in the SEC all conference and it’s not even close,” Matt Jones said.
Utah’s road to the College Football Playoff became basically impossible. Maybe next year, the Utes.
