For the first time, Belgian icon cluster Raf Simons’ label takes to the LFW runway.
On September 16th at 8 p.m., mystery visionary Raf Simons announced that he will be taking to the London Fashion Week runway to debut his latest Spring Summer 2023 womenswear and menswear collections.
“It’s been a dream for a while to show in London – a city where fashion and creativity is everywhere on the streets and where I see unique people with different styles. I’m thrilled that this dream is now coming true and to welcome the amazing people and faces that make up the London scene to my show. I’m so happy. I can’t wait to see you and dance the night away,” says Raf Simons.
In the year Boldly entering the world of fashion around 1995, Simmons is credited with a passion for both rebellious youth subcultures and traditional menswear, which executes a distinct image of masculinity. In each collection and “his universe” are expressions of his thought, feeling and individuality and freedom. Simon was creative director at Jil Sander (2005-2012), Christian Dior (2012-2015) and Calvin Klein (2016-2018). As of April 1, 2020, he has signed on as Prada’s co-creative director in collaboration with Miuccia Prada.
Simon’s “outside-of-the-box” approach has been acknowledged as a source of inspiration for artists such as Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Future, ASAP Rocky, Drake, and Kanye West, who in an interview cited Simon as a major influence on Yeezy’s Season 1 set. In the year In 2017, the popular rap group, A$AP MOB, Quavo, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert and Frank Ocean released a song called “RAF” in honor of the self-taught designer.
