It can be difficult to find the right clothes for your body shape.
Fortunately, a fashion expert has revealed what to wear and what to avoid if you want to look taller.
Fashion whiz Bethany is 5ft 1 and reveals her tips and tricks to help you look taller.
In a YouTube video, Bethany reveals the style she swears by, starting with wearing stilettos.
“It’s more of an illusion than reality,” she says.
Pointed shoes help elongate the legs – even flats, as she shows in the video.
But if you want to look taller, you should always avoid ankle strapped heels.
According to Bethany, ankle straps divide the leg, shortening it instead of elongating it.
Next, Bethany recommends going for a monochrome look to add height.
“Wearing one color from head to toe creates a visually very long line,” she adds.
“Not only that, but you can’t really tell where your feet start.”
As your pants Bethany shows, you can create the same illusion by wearing shoes of the same color.
Her third tip is to wear extra wide pants or straight dresses, especially if they’re floor-grazing.
To the naked eye, this makes it impossible to see how long your legs are.
Pulling on your top helps create length, Bethany says it hides your midsection.
For the summer months, Bethany suggests trying paper bag shorts to create longer legs.
They are longer than other shorts and often have a high waist – helping to create longer legs.
Bitan also recommends trying dresses instead of skin-tight dresses.
“Choosing a fabric that doesn’t have room for movement will make your legs look fatter,” she says.
A cropped jacket or cardigan creates long legs and a short waist, making you look taller.
Finally, Bethany advises you to emphasize the upper part of your body by wearing a top with lots of details.
“This is for someone with a pear shape like me, especially if you want to accentuate your shoulders with puff sleeves,” she adds.
