Dawson County coffee lovers now have another option to satisfy their cravings. Human Bean’s new Dawson location is officially open for business, offering the community a wide selection of espresso, coffee, tea and other beverages, all available at the store’s drive-thru or walk-up window.

The coffee shop opened last weekend and the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce held an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new business on August 9. Aaron Nicholson opened the shop with his business partner, Justin Fezh, and their wives, Megan and Olivia. They said they’ve seen and heard quite a bit of excitement from the community since the store opened.
“It’s been amazing; we’ve been overwhelmed and overwhelmed by the support from the community,” Nicholson said.
Human Bean offers an extensive beverage menu, including bar fare such as espresso-based drinks, lattes, cappuccinos and mochas. The menu includes several house specialties such as the “ice mocha”, a Ghirardelli white chocolate mocha. “Mexi Mocha”, cinnamon chocolate mocha; And “Granita”, a chilled espresso drink.

“We have a very broad menu; coffee is a specialty, says Nicholson, and everything starts with a high-quality coffee bean, the root of everything. “Anything espresso-based can be cold, hot or blended, and any of them in different flavors, caramel, vanilla, You can customize them all. Then we have a variety of fruit desserts, we make a variety of teas and energy drinks – and all can be customized to taste.
One of the things that sets the Human Beans menu apart, Nicholson said, is the wide range of sugar-free options available. While many coffee shops offer one or two sugar-free options, Human Bean offers 15 to 20 sugar-free options.
While the coffee shop is primarily drive-thru, it offers a walk-in option for those who prefer to park and order at the walk-up window. The shop will soon add delivery services including DoorDash, Grubhub and UberEats, allowing customers to satisfy their coffee cravings.
In addition to coffee drinks, Human Bean offers other beverages such as smoothies and teas.

“Ultimately, we’re trying to be a gourmet coffee company that serves you fast,” Nicholson said.
Human Beans was originally founded in Oregon, and since then local franchisees like Nicholson’s have picked up franchises across the country. Nicholson, who owns the Cummings location, said Dawsonville was a natural next step for him and his partner to locate their new store.
“It’s close to Cummings, it allows us to use different facilities with the other store, and we felt like it was a market that was growing like crazy and it was important for us to get in with the growth,” Nicholson said. “And so far it’s been amazing.”
The name “human bean” is a play on both “mankind” and the coffee bean, “representing the idea of community and treating everyone as a kind human bean,” he said. As part of Human Bean, he and his business partner and family share the same mindset of putting customers first and hiring the best employees who put their customers first.

“Ultimately, it’s a kind and good human being built from the name; that’s the basis of everything we do,” said Nicholson. And that’s the attitude that people bring to work that makes it so much better for us to treat our customers the way we want them to.
