Local business leaders picked up hammer and nails and jumped in to build two homes in Santa Ana.

Habitat for Humanity of Orange County brings together leaders from the business community for Habitat OC. In the process, they will see where their donation is going and feel a sense of community pride.

The two homes are located on Lucy Street in the French Park section of Santa Ana.

The houses will be awarded in August to two families who have been selected but not yet officially announced.

Charles Antis, founder of Antis Roofing and Habitat OC board member, donated nearly 100 roofs.

“Our company is about protecting and keeping families dry,” he said. “How are we doing this when there are so many families that don’t have that basic need for shelter, that don’t have the safety of a home that allows their families to grow that magic?”

Habitat OC has been building homes in Orange County for 35 years.

In that time, it has completed 237 homes, according to Chris Georgieff, head of marketing and communications.

Over the next two years, Habitat OC hopes to have 100 more homes in development.
