When it comes to shopping, there are few experiences more frustrating than trying on jeans. I find the process very difficult and unsatisfying – and therefore avoid it at all costs. If I’m looking for that super special pair of jeans (you know the one, low-slung and skinny, but not too baggy), it’s almost always a lost cause. Until I, by chance, found myself a pair of Frances Valentine Casey 5-Pocket Jean.

About a month or so ago, I was gifted a pair of jeans, and while I was deciding, I read some of the reviews and chose to go up a size; Not because I was a smooth effort, but because the reviews say they run a little! I thought they would fit through the middle rise and a semi-rigid straight leg, but surprisingly, they were worn with some give.

I like to think that if you order this pair of jeans true to size, it will have a classic 50’s look (bonus if they’re cuffed). Site. But for me, going up a size was just the ticket for those easy-to-grab-jean jeans that had eluded me up until this point.

It is important not to discount how good this denim wash navy shade is. It’s not too blue, or too dull and grey, it has a retro feel but not in a ‘blood all over your couch’ kind of way. I also love the “xo” detail on the back pocket, which I may not remember, their striped long sleeve tee, which I, to be honest, also obsessed. It’s just beautiful! I also like the mid-rise, because even though the size is increased, they don’t hang too low on the waist. The best of both worlds. And even though it’s a bit loose, I didn’t need to hem these pants up – which is a huge plus in my book.

I love these so much that I’m only sporting a pair in the normal size in the white colorway in the summer. After all, Memorial Day is fast approaching.
