Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati announced the former Vice Chancellor Joseph R. Slights III He joined the firm’s litigation department as a partner in the Wilmington, Delaware, office. He will be a member of Wilson Sonsini’s corporate governance practice.
Prior to joining the firm, Slights served as Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery for six years before recently retiring from the court. In the year He was nominated to the Chancery Court in 2016 by Delaware Governor Jack Markell.
From 2000 to 2012, Slights served as a Delaware Superior Court judge, where he was instrumental in establishing the Court’s Complex Commercial Litigation Division.
Wilson Sonsini’s Corporate Governance Group represents the management teams, directors and special boards or management committees of major companies.
Part of its management experience is the firm’s 30-lawyer Delaware team, including William B. Chandler III, who presided over the Delaware Court of Chancery for 14 years.
Prior to his appointment to the Delaware Superior Court and the Delaware Court of Chancery, Slights worked in private practice, where he focused on corporate and business litigation and arbitration disputes.
Former Vice Chancellor Slates earned a JD from Washington Lee University School of Law in 1988 and a BA from James Madison University in 1985.
Wilson Sonsini is headquartered in Palo Alto, CA and represents Silicon Valley companies.
Wilson Sonsini, who has more than $1 billion in annual revenue, is part of the legal team involved in Twitter’s lawsuit against Elon Musk following the Tesla founder’s decision to abandon his bid for the company. Also, part of the law group is the Wilmington firm of Potter Anderson & Corron.
Twitter is asking Musk to honor the terms of the deal, which Musk alleges fraud in a counterclaim over a dispute over the percentage of auto-tweeting “bots.”
