The Art Walks the Runway fashion show returns to the Sydney and Burn Davis Center for the Arts on March 31 and April 1, featuring the hottest looks from local boutiques and international couture fashion designers. Produced and produced by Melissa Chari DeHaven for the past 11 years, the event includes runway shows and entertainment. Both nights will be hosted by Brittany Gonzalez, morning radio personality for iHeart Media, with DJ Dream J spinning the music. Doors open at 7 pm on both days and performances begin at 8 pm

On Friday, March 31, experience the best in local fashion from Art4Wear, Subtle & Chic Boutique and Vivie Boutique. Yvonne Krystman is a mixed media artist with a passion for incorporating art into everyday life, which led her to create her wearable art line, Art4Wear, at Coconut Point Mall. Krystman calls it a portable gallery featuring versatile pieces made from soft, non-tight fabrics that can be dressed up or down. Subtle and Chic Boutique and Vivi Boutique will also present collections on Friday’s runway between performances by Rikelson Pierre-Louis and Jumar Hillard from Young Nation Dancers. The two are community-respected hip-hop dancers who have built a bond and bond through dance and brotherhood.

On Saturday April 1, haute couture fashion will come to the runway with the looks of Asta Razma, Kenneth Barlis and Diana Couture. Razma is an artist designer from Chicago and currently lives in Santa Monica, CA. Her work has been featured in international magazines, music videos and red carpet film premieres on celebrities, notably Paris Hilton, Bella Porch, Frankie Grande, Rico Nasty and Sofi Tukker. Razma uses mixed media art techniques with pop culture trends and slogans to create one-of-a-kind hand-painted accessories, boots, trench coats and jackets.

“Project Runway” Season 19 Cast Member Kenneth Balis is an internationally recognized brand of musicians, influencers and celebrities on red carpets, magazine covers, concerts and music videos. Barlis previously appeared on Art Walks the Runway in 2020. The brand is inspired by its artistic, imaginative and modern design. His collection has been featured in Paper Magazine, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Billboard Magazine, Esquire and Cosmopolitan. His work has been seen by celebrities including Frankie Grande, Carrie Underwood, Paula Abdul, Lady Gaga and Jenny Mae.

Indonesian fashion designer Diana Putri was named the Best Designer on the Global Fashion Walk at the 2016 New York Fashion Week. Her sophisticated designs were previously featured on Art Walks the Runway in 2018. Her clients include the Royal Family, Hollywood celebrities, K-Pop icons and famous socialites including Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.

Saturday’s Couture Show features special appearances by South Florida’s finest entertainer and performance artist, Katarina Danks. She is a world-renowned contortionist, archer, hand balance, and acrobatics instructor with performers from Europe, Canada, and the United States in circuses such as Cirque du Soleil, Big Apple Circus, Ringling Brothers, and Cirque Roncalli. She has won many awards and is trained in both Mongolian and Western contortion techniques, learning from world-renowned trainers and performers. She currently trains privately and throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Melissa DeHaven, producer of Art Walks the Runway, has organized and hosted many of the shows over the past decade. She is also the center’s director of public relations and marketing, artist liaison for SBDAC’s monthly art shows, entertainment coordinator for the Sidney Rooftop Sculpture Garden, and producer of the TGIM Film Festival for Fort Myers.

“We have an amazing line-up for both fashion nights,” said DeHaven. “I’m excited that our sold-out audiences will be able to experience the designers and boutiques showcasing their amazing fashion and creativity.”
