The fastest-growing business in the region is—you guessed it—mortgage giant rocket companies.
news drive; Crain’s Detroit Business released its Fast 50 list for 2021. Rocket, which is part of Dan Gilbert’s portfolio of companies alongside Detroit’s largest lender Bedrock, is ahead of Pontiac-based rival United Wholesale Lending.
- The percentage of crane-rated companies around metro Detroit and their dollar-for-dollar revenue will increase between 2018 and 2021.
Points of interest:
- Rockets’ revenue grew 207 percent, from $4.21 billion to $12.91 billion, while UWM’s grew 122 percent, from $1.34 billion to $2.97 billion, according to Crain’s analysis.
- Only five companies Headquartered in Detroit, they’re on the list, with construction contractor Walbridge at No. 7 — the highest ranking next to Rocket. Walbridge posted a 69 percent increase in revenue to $2.26 billion.
- Two other Detroit Construction contractors made the list: Devon Industrial Group at No. 25 and Chrisman Co. at No. 28.
- Meat producer EW Grobbel’s Sons was the only non-construction company in the city to make the list other than Rocket at No. 41.
