Results from the construction from the internal alliance meeting
ANCHORAGE, Alaska, August 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ – Representatives from 12 states and 25 member organizations of the Build from Within Alliance recently concluded their annual meeting. Anchorage, Alaska. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss needs facing communities across the country and develop plans to combat these issues, with a particular focus on developing strong ecosystems in low-income neighborhoods in the city.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss needs facing communities across the country and develop plans to combat these issues, with a particular focus on developing strong ecosystems in low-income neighborhoods in the city.
The Build Inside Alliance is a national network of community development organizations that support local entrepreneurship in neighborhoods across the country. It works in communities with visible and invisible signs of systemic disintegration, connecting entrepreneurs with opportunities that are often excluded.
The coalition was launched by the Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) across cities and organizations to adopt, adapt and implement NDC’s place-based, entrepreneur-oriented economic development approach.

Each member of the consortium brings their knowledge and experience to the table and together they can develop effective strategies to address needs such as business training, risk-resilient lending and real estate activities.
“Every member comes from different parts of the country, but they all see the same obstacles,” said Mihailo “Mike” Temali, founder of the Neighborhood Development Center. “The meeting allows us to share tools and insights for success in training, lending and real estate activities. It’s important to share our experiences and resources with every community across the country.”

In the year In March 2020, Wilder Research found that small businesses in the Build From Within Alliance increased their spending. 1.5 million dollars Annually in business expenses (excluding rent and wages). 60% of this was spent in the same neighborhood as the business. Additionally, 74 percent of business owners contributed their time, money, or in-kind support to neighborhood events and activities in the past year. 267,200 dollars. In fact, 96% of owners said they serve as role models for youth and/or youth in their community, and half said they serve as leaders in groups or organizations in their local or tribal communities.
