Ben Reese orchestrated a tough comeback as the Nashoba Tech men’s tennis team posted a 3-2 home opener victory over Great Lawrence.
Trailing 5-3 in the match, the Chelmsford resident and Vikings captain fought back in the first singles game to pull out a 10-6 victory.
Chris Rickard won the match 10-9 to reach third singles. The Chelmsford resident was in a back-and-forth battle, which came down to the last point. Nathan Phillips was outstanding at fourth singles with a 10-4 decision, while Conor Maher lost second singles 10-2.
Meanwhile, the first doubles team of Eric Clawfield and Michelle Dunn won 10-4. At second doubles, Amira White and Amelia Smilowitz won 10-3. Arthur Hargett and Loreni Rodriguez were down 10-2 in the third period.
Groton-Dunstable 3, Littleton 2: Will Gould stopped Sam Little 6-2, 7-5 at first singles as Groton-Dunstable edged Littleton.
Ayush Chaudhry defeated Jake Armenton 6-3, 6-2 at second singles, while the first doubles team of Nick Melin and JW McDevitt defeated Evan McKay and Vedanta Sharma 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. Agreement.
Littleton kept things close. Aren Panda won at third singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Alex Bobkov, while at second singles Jackson Little and Manthan Acharya defeated Wen Luo and Aidan Gray 6-1, 7-5.

Despite the setback, Wilmington has shown many positives. Freshman Erin McCarthy led the way, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Another starter, Allie McElligott, ripped an RBI double and scored a run. Senior Sophia Scalfani came up with an RBI double.
Tyngsborough 13, Chelmsford 9: Carly Demento went 3 for 5 with a home run and four runs scored as Tyngsboro beat Chelmsford in the season opener.
Tyngsboro reliever Kelly Hogan helped her own cause by hitting a pair of homers while Elisabeth Silip belted another walk-off in the win.
Chelmsford was led by senior Julia Williams who went 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Mikaya Alto, Adriana Capozzi and Sam Kellepouris each had two hits for the Lions.
Girls Lacrosse
Lowell Catholic 8, Greater Lowell 7: Senior midfielder Kathryn Antwi had four goals and three assists as Lowell Catholic topped Greater Lowell.
The Crusaders came back from a 6-3 halftime deficit and put in a good second half effort. Junior midfielder Riley Hogan led the way with three goals and an assist. Emma McBourney also had a goal and an assist.
Captains Lily Hugo and Reese Geary, along with Sofia Pescatore, Raquel Rego and Ellie Mori, provided sound defense in the second standard. Goalie Avery Tucker gave up just one second-half goal in the win.
Greater Lowell was led by Julia Canario (two goals), Emily Sandelli (goal, two assists) and Nelly Chan (goal, assist). Emma Finch, Nayare Burato and Michaela Correia also scored, while Christine Nocco had an assist. Goal scorer Davalin Sanchez has 13 attempts.
College

Littleton’s Casey Rickard did just that on Monday. The Boston University freshman defeated Holy Cross 9-0.
Making her 10th start of the season, the hard-throwing right-hander allowed the Holy Cross batters to strike out just one in six strong innings. BU finally gave it all the run support it needed to put up five runs in the fourth, capped by an RBI triple by Emily Coker, the first of two triples in the game.
Rickard held Holy Cross all weekend. He fanned 17 in Sunday’s 6-0 shutout, allowing just one hit and one walk.
