Abercrombie & Kent is chartering Ponant’s luxury icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot for its maiden voyage to the North Pole.

If the North Pole is at the top of your travel list, get ready to book the trip of a lifetime. Luxury tour operator Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) has announced its itinerary for the 2024 — 2025 season, which includes a trip to the North Pole.
“A&K is known for taking our guests to the edge of the earth in luxury, but we’ve never been able to offer an experience like this before – our first trip to the North Pole,” Stefanie Schmudde, A&K VP of Product Development and Operations, announced in a statement. Travel + entertainment.

The 18-day voyage will depart from Svalbard in the Norwegian archipelago on July 12, 2024. While the details of the trip are still being finalized, passengers may spot polar bears, walruses and seals as they head north. Guests travel Commander Charcot, A Ponant luxury yacht. The ship is a real icebreaker; It is one of the few passenger ships to reach the North Pole, covered in six to 10 feet of sea ice.
But that’s not the only new adventure on the A&K calendar. The company is launching two other new itineraries in 2024, as well as strengthening its current roster to include destinations such as Tanzania and the Seychelles (a new experience launched this year), Antarctica and Italy.

“We often hear from past guests who loved their experience and want to discover new destinations with A&K’s Expedition team,” said Schmud. “As such, we are introducing new destinations that many travelers don’t visit, such as Saudi Arabia and the Solomon Islands, and additional sailings on two popular cruises to Japan and Greece.”
The Saudi Arabia itinerary runs from October 16 to October 30, 2024 and includes ports of call in Turkey and Greece.The Solomon Islands itinerary runs from October 17 to October 30, 2024 and includes a stop in Papua New Guinea.
