April American travel agency air ticket sales totaled 8.7 dollars

ARLINGTON, Va., May 18, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Data released today by Airline Reports Corporation (ARC) shows that US travel agency Air Ticket Sales totaled $8.7 billion in April 2023, an increase of 13 percent year-over-year.* April for the Fourth It was a consecutive month of over $8 billion in sales. Sales for the first five months of the year are the highest since the same period in 2019.

The average cost of US round-trip airline tickets sold in April fell for the second straight month. The average ticket price for April 2023 ($551) was lower than April 2022 ($585), indicating a year-over-year decrease in monthly average prices from February 2021.

“The monthly sales in the first four months of 2023 represent a likely record year for airline ticket sales for a travel agency,” said Steve Solomon, ARC’s chief business officer. “Despite slight month-over-month declines in sales and passenger travel, corporate and leisure air ticket purchases continue to exceed 2022 levels and demand for international travel remains strong.”

Ancillary sales increased 70 percent year over year to 25,161,935. Assisted transactions grew 63 percent to 365,851 over the same period.**

  • Passenger movements include the total number of passengers traveling from one airport to another using direct or connecting flights. Newly issued trips are added, and returned trips are trimmed to give traveling passengers a clear view.
  • US domestic passenger travel totals include all travel itineraries booked through ARC.
  • Gross sales equal the total amount paid for the ticket, including taxes and fees.
