Antigua and Barbuda, one of the top tourism destinations in the Caribbean.

The Twin Island checkpoint announced that travelers no longer need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the country.

The measure applies to both air passengers and those arriving by ship or boat. Pleasure of the Sea chat and boats must contact the Antigua Port Authority at least six hours prior to arrival.

While wearing face masks and social distancing is not “actively encouraged,” officials said.

The destination said passengers with symptoms of Covid-19 may be quarantined as determined by health authorities.

Antigua and Barbuda now joins a growing number of Caribbean destinations that have lifted all quarantine restrictions, including Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Martinique, St. Kitts and Nevis and Grenada, among others.

“Antigua and Barbuda has benefited from a highly successful vaccination strategy, rapid identification of imported and community-transmitted infections and early public awareness campaigns in significantly reducing Covid-19 infections over the past five months,” the government said in a statement. .

The news comes as Antigua and Barbuda continues to break tourism records, including a high visitor mark for the month of July.
