For New York Fashion Week, Harlem Fashion Row has teamed up with Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) to showcase three colorful designers. In celebration of HFR’s 15th anniversary, the collaborative effort to create opportunities for new generations of talent is the result of HFR’s new partnership with LVMH.
Emerging designers Clarence Root, Jonathan Hayden and Nicole Benefield will take their place at the LVMH Celebration on September 6. Learn more about each selected talent below.
Nicole Benefield expertly elevates casual garments, creating striking silhouettes and textures in an earthy color palette. Producing in small batches, the designer is committed to slowing down fashion as her truly unique designs are made from organic, biodegradable and organic fabrics. Introducing timeless styles to fashions, Benefield leads the way with “feelings on trends”.
Offering sophisticated and refreshingly modern clothing, contemporary womenswear designer Jonathan Hayden is inspired by women in STEM-related fields as well as fashion-conscious women. With “brain before body” as their motto, Hayden’s designs reflect a careful attention to the user experience and are especially crafted with a clean and sustainable approach.
Founder of menswear label Cote d’Armes, Clarence Root has used his background as a fashion model and artist to create dynamic denim pieces. Having previously created artwork for the Polk Museum of Art and the African Art Museum, Ruth has previously directed images for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and John Varvatos.
