Southwest Airlines is offering free flights to loyal travelers for a limited time.

  • Boston.com readers say it’s not safe to fly with babies on your lap.

Travelers must be members of the airline’s Express Rewards program to take advantage of the three-day CompanPass offer announced Monday. Non-members can create an account on southwest.com. Instant Rewards accounts are free.

Here’s how the promotion works:

  1. Sign up for the promotion and purchase a Southwest flight (round-trip flight or two one-way flights) on April 5 at 11:59 CDT.

2. Travel until May 24.

3. Companion can fly with you for free from August 15th to September 30th (excluding taxes and fees from $5.60 one way).

Southwest customers will receive an email from the company within 10 days after registering and checking in by April 5th and after traveling on May 24th confirming their eligibility for the Company Pass. Promotional airline passes will be credited to their account, which they can then refer a friend to and from August 15 to September 30, according to the airline.

“Now more than ever, customers are looking for more loyalty value from their purchases,” said Jonathan Clarkson, Southwest’s vice president of marketing, in a statement. “We’re constantly looking for opportunities to reward our Fast Rewards members, especially with this unique way to earn our coveted Companion Pass. It’s a great way for them to experience the value and many benefits of our award-winning loyalty program and our legendary hospitality.

The promotion does not apply to flights purchased with Instant Rewards points.
