On September 25, the GFC x MFW showcase will feature four international designers from Mexico, South Korea and Canada. GFC aims to spotlight and provide a platform for emerging designers in the world’s most prestigious fashion weeks. This firm has previously presented at New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and Tokyo Fashion Week.
CEDIM School of Design was founded by Alejandro García Villarreal and has focused on teaching art, design, creativity and business in Mexico since 1978. Leesle was created by South Korean designer Leesle Hwang. She specializes in using a neo-modern perspective to re-imagine the structures, patterns, and subtleties of traditional costumes with a 5,000-year history, such as the Korean “Hanbok.” Huang has been featured in the New York Times in collaboration with Samsung Mobile and Kia Motors, and has appeared on runways around the world. She is a rising star in Korean design and representative of the increasingly popular modern hanbok movement. Fawn Studio was founded in 2017 by Marissa P. Clarke is a contemporary womenswear brand based in Calgary. Her designs have been shown at New York and Paris Fashion Weeks and featured in Vanity Fair and Filter 29. Earlier this year, Clarke was selected. She won among Canada’s leading designers for a one-of-a-kind dress made out of toilet paper. Her latest collection introduces luxurious knitwear in natural earthy tones and features a desert-inspired print. These clothes are comfortable and made with great attention to durability.
