Falcon Heights, Minn – The Greater Minnesota Gathering brings together visitors and vendors from across the state. But it’s really a global issue.

Do we want to know where the audience is traveling from? Good question. Our Jeff Wagner has learned that delicious foods and unusual items have roots around the world.

There are a lot of fish in the sea that flow through the Minnesota State Fair, many of which call this state home. But with tens of thousands — sometimes hundreds of thousands — lining up to eat and learn about the animals, it can’t all be locals.

In the year In 2019, tickets were sold to all 50 states, and nearly 30 countries, including Canada, France, India, Japan, and more.

Carmel Dyer and her beloved potato hail from Australia, but now she calls California home.

“The Minnesota State Fair is probably the number one fair in the country,” Dyer says.

Georgia resident Kim Underwood has been selling custom toe rings at the fair for 14 years.

“A lot of us travel a long way to come here because it’s amazing,” Underwood said.
