We hope to be on the way to 90 million by 2027, but this will require the right policies to be implemented and the continued strength of Brand USA so the US remains a premier destination in an increasingly competitive environment. According to the association’s economist Aaron Schiff.
By 2023, total visits will reach 79 percent of pre-pandemic levels, the study found. For Canada, this year’s numbers remain at 81 percent of 2019 levels.
“At the same time, we expect this forecast to be ‘too conservative’ for Canada, where we see impressive growth in 2022.
In the year Recovery is expected to increase significantly by 2024, reaching 94 percent of the pre-epidemic total. Inbound NTTO projects will achieve 115 percent of 2019 levels by 2027.
Last month, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) released a study showing that the US travel recovery could grow significantly again in 2022. The tourism industry could reach $2 trillion in GDP and is 6.2 percent higher than before the pandemic.
The data suggests that U.S. domestic travel spending could reach more than $1.1 trillion annually, an 11.3 percent increase from before the pandemic. Spending by international travelers is expected to grow by $113 billion over the year, to $155 billion, down 14 percent from 2019 levels.
