The Outer Banks was featured as one of the “12 Best Places to Travel in October” by Travel+Leisure.

Travel+Leisure’s Patricia Doherty has this to say:

If you missed your summer vacation and still have a trip on your mind, you’re in luck. Tourist numbers are falling in places like Hawaii, North Carolina and Europe, and so are prices. The temperatures may be a little cooler, but you can still find beaches and great weather for being outdoors. Does October mean leaf picking, Halloween or Oktoberfest?

Doherty’s thoughts on foreign banks:

“The summer beaches are overcrowded, the prices are low, and the weather is still beautiful in North Carolina’s Outer Banks towns. It’s time to go fishing and eat fresh seafood. Visit Oct. 10-16 for Oyster Week, the Oct. 15 Outer Banks Seafood Festival, the Duck Jazz Festival, or one of the many other fall events. Stay in town at the Sanderling Resort on the beach or at the Pamlico Sound Inn on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. In the same area, the Ocracoke Harbor Inn features views of Silver Lake.

Also listed in history are the Berkshires in Massachusetts; Touring the Danube River; Savannah, Georgia; Marbella, Spain; Kenya; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Mykonos, Greece; Istanbul, Turkey; Oahu, Hawaii; Athens, Georgia; and the Jersey Shore.
