I believe the citizens of central Maine should make it a priority to travel more. It seems like people would rather spend their money on expensive trucks than experience a new place, and I don’t agree with that ideology. Traveling allows you to become more confident, independent, and expand your cross-cultural communication skills. I understand that not everyone can afford this luxury, but I think it depends on where you place your priorities. Some people prefer to spend money on material things, while I prefer to spend money on experiences that help me grow and create lifelong memories. I think everyone should prioritize the latter.
It’s important to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. I feel that some people get stuck in their ways when life is tiring; Isn’t it important to embrace positive change and new experiences? Traveling challenges us and teaches us how to adapt quickly and learn to embrace new cultures. It reinforces many skills that are transferable to our work and everyday life. So why do some people deny themselves this opportunity to grow?
It doesn’t have to be expensive to travel outside of your hometown or have a new experience. When you have money to spare, instead of shopping for material things, try taking a weekend out of state, whether near or far. I truly feel that traveling as much as you can is important to our own growth and development as a person.
