The NYPD released video footage Thursday of four brazen thieves who robbed a high-end fashion store in Manhattan’s Soho section last week.
The thieves reportedly broke into the Givenchy store at 7:30 a.m. on February 11 before making off with $50,000 worth of merchandise.
The video shows the thieves ransacking the store, stuffing $2,000 bags under their arms and putting shoes and clothes inside the bags.
The incident comes as shoplifting continues to be a major problem in New York City, and Mayor Eric Adams said earlier this week that he was ordering chain stores to leave.
Adams made the announcement Wednesday in Albany, where Gov. Kathy Hochul is backing a plan to give judges more discretion in granting bail to repeat offenders.
“We’re losing chain stores that are closing,” Adams reported. “People who are employed in those stores are losing their jobs.”
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the criminals behind Saturday’s Givenchy theft. They released photos of all four suspects.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
