For Melissa McSherry, I guess you could say technological innovation runs in the family.

During a panel discussion with moderator Celia Peters at EmanConnector Las Vegas, the COO of Anywhere talked about her childhood memories of working with her mother, an early tech entrepreneur in the healthcare technology space.

“I’m dating myself here,” McSherry said [my mother] It was used to write programs on computer punch cards. One day a colleague of mine brought her punch cards complete with little pink plastic barrettes.

McSherry said those early experiences laid the foundation for the belief that technology is designed to improve people’s lives.

McSherry initially pursued a degree in social studies, then studied business at Stanford. During her first homework in computer science class, she discovered that she could tackle even the most daunting technology tasks as long as she was open to the process and willing to reach out for help.

Although McSherry has lived with each location for less than 6 months, she has gleaned insights from her past experiences at Capital One and Visa and applied them to the real estate industry. She looks at areas for improvement that could make transactions more “seamless” not only for customers, but also for agents, brokers and associated service providers.

“I’m incredibly optimistic about the opportunity for technology to fundamentally improve the lives of anyone who touches one of these transactions,” McSherry said.
