Virgin Atlantic offers 30% off all cabins to most US destinations

Virgin Atlantic has a great new offer to save you thousands of points on your next redemption.

Following the lead of Air France-KLM’s Flight Blue promo awards and Singapore Airlines’ surprise getaway, Virgin is offering 30% off certain redemptions for travel from now until May 31.

The discount is It’s not quite as generous as the “Redemption Deal of the Year” we saw in 2022, which saw 50% off Virgin Points for almost all destinations. This new offer is only 30% off the regular redemption price, and the destinations are even more limited.

The 30% discount applies to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Virgin Atlantic flights:

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
  • Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS).
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
  • Miami International Airport (MIA).
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA).
  • Dulles International Airport (IAD)
  • VC Bird International Airport (ANU).
  • Islamabad International Airport (ISB).
  • Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE) (departs until April 30, route blocked).
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).
  • Ben Gurion Airport (TLV).

Also included is Virgin Atlantic’s route from JFK to Manchester Airport (MAN).

The discounts are applicable on flights in either direction. This offer is available for redemptions, upgrades and companion tickets. Flights must be operated by Virgin Atlantic to be eligible for the promotion.

An upgrade from last year’s offer, the 30% points discount will be automatically applied first when you register. Last year’s promotion required paying full price for the redemption and a discounted price was given after completing the flight. This means redemptions start at 7,000 Virgin Points each way from the US East Coast on regular days only.

Unfortunately, full fees, taxes and significant surcharges apply to all cabins on all routes. As with British Airways, there is no way to offset the surcharges imposed by the carrier by paying more points. Even in an economy, you can expect to pay hundreds of dollars more. These surcharges remain a major frustration with the Flying Club program.

To take advantage of this great offer, you must book by February 28 and complete travel by May 31. The offer does not apply to existing bookings so if your existing booking qualifies for the new offer, you may consider canceling and rebooking. Availability is not guaranteed.

If you want to redeem Virgin Points for one of these rewards, you can transfer them from American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou. All these transfer process in 1:1 ratio. In addition, Citi ThankYou is running a 30% transfer bonus for Virgin Atlantic from February 19 to March 18.

This is a great initiative from Flying Club to offer discounts to certain destinations during off-peak travel times when flights may not be full. I hope this becomes a regular offer as seen with Air France-KLM and Singapore Airlines monthly offers.
