Why did America take the steps?

Covid has changed almost every aspect of society, and aviation is no exception. Each country emerged from the pandemic at its own pace. As a result, this year’s rankings look very different from the pre-pandemic year of 2019. Thanks to strong domestic ties, the United States dominates this year’s list. As the world begins to reopen, the US has seen a strong year in domestic travel and has significantly more airports than other countries.

Although many international destinations are closed for parts of the year, the United States has seen strong travel improvements within its borders as other countries debate their reopening strategies.
