(CNN) — This week, Travel News, Time Out and TIME both released their annual lists of must-visit destinations, with AirlineRatings.com naming the world’s best airlines for 2022.

First, Time Out unveiled its 2022 World’s Best Cities list. Scotland had two of the top five cities in the European dominated list. (You can hear Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown” podcast from the country when he visited in 2015.)

Then TIME released its list of the 50 Greatest Places in the World: Japanese islands, South African wine regions and a few South American cities.

Strange wonders

Be careful there
It’s wildfire season in California, and firefighters are working hard to protect Yosemite National Park’s giant sequoias — the largest trees on earth. The Incan ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru were also threatened by wildfires earlier this month.
