While the central government is taking more effective COVID-19 protection measures to help the industry recover, insiders are taking a cautious but positive view of the high summer tourism market.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Thursday announced that travel agencies will continue to operate tourist trains designed to stop at tourist attractions. In October 2021, the service was terminated due to epidemic control.
Statistics from travel agencies show that the country’s schools have had a good start to the summer this week since they began their school holidays earlier this month.
According to the online travel agency Kunar, flight sales increased by 26 percent over the weekend. Sales of train tickets also performed well, growing by 50 percent in three days.
“The figures we have seen so far are showing signs of improvement and the tourism market is booming when the COVID-19 epidemic is under control,” said Huang Ziaoji, Kunar’s chief marketing officer.
She said hotel booking for the summer season began in late June and has seen a 20 percent steady growth over the past few weeks.
Figures provided by another online travel agency in Tunisia also indicate a good start to the summer. Booking family trips this week has increased by 51 percent, with half of regional cross-country trips.
Since the end of June, the country has gradually stepped up measures to prevent and control the CVD-19 pandemic, increasing the mobility of people.
On June 29, the country removed warning signs indicating all travel codes to ease travel restrictions. In the past, a star has visited a city or state with a moderate or high risk of infection within 14 days, which limits travel. However, the stars do not indicate a person’s health, and only serve as a warning about the middle and high risk areas that people should avoid.
“Even though travel restrictions have been lifted, we are still cautious in the summer market,” said Wei Changren, general manager of the tourism industry analysis site Ctcnn.com.
He said the tourism industry would still be affected by the CVD-19 epidemic as the travel ban was lifted but not lifted.
“Travelers may be worried that their destination will be canceled or affected every time the destinations are verified,” he said. “Short-distance tours for travelers’ work or homes are still popular choices, but people may hesitate to take long-distance trips because of the suspicion of the epidemic.”
