Summer’s Lucille Boutique is one of the few plus-size-only stores that carries prom dresses.
After the owner of North Carolina’s only plus-size boutique gave away a free prom dress to one lucky teenager, the viral prom is opening up about what makes it so special.
“No matter where you’re from, where you’re from, where you’re from, everybody’s connected to prom,” Juicy’s body goddess Summer Lucille said while attending the fourth hour. Today on Wednesday.

While Lucille’s Boutique is home to fashion from “corporate work wear to night looks,” she shared with hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that her boutique is one of the few stores that carries only plus-sizes, so she’s especially interested in prom. Hold prom dresses.
“It’s bittersweet for me,” she said, explaining that she was “limited” in choosing a dress during her own prostitution practice. [my] size.”
“I didn’t feel the moment,” she said. “And my date three days ago said, ‘No, I’m not going to prom.’ And guess who I saw there? The guy actually showed up to prom.”

While Lucille says she used to look back on her prom experience with sadness, she says meeting fans at her boutique allowed her to look at promotions in a new light.
“Meeting these girls, and listening to them, and pouring love into them and pouring love into me, I don’t see these images anymore,” Lucille said. “I want little girls to know that yes, no matter what your size, what you look like, you can be a princess on prom night.”
Last month, a video of Lucille giving a prom dress to Elise Monroe, a teenager who drove six hours to her boutique with her family, garnered more than 13 million views on TikTok.
“When she got into that purple dress, she lit up,” Lucille said of her experience in an interview with People. “I couldn’t let her leave the store without that dress on.” Lucille added that gifting the youngster with the dress (valued at $700) was a “beautiful, beautiful moment.”

“The response has been out of this world,” she shared. “People were in my opinion, ‘How can I donate? How can I give? How can I help the next woman?’
Instead of advertising big, anyone interested can go to the store’s website to purchase gift cards, Lucille suggested. Since posting the video, she said, $12,000 in gift card purchases have been made.
