Last year I made a promise to myself: to get as many stamps as possible before my passport runs out in 2032. The only problem is, I don’t like to travel. Between deciding which clothes to pack and what to leave behind, endless lines at the airport, sitting nervously in the air at 30,000 feet for hours, and then waiting at baggage claim. What felt like forever until my luggage was revealed, the whole experience was always overwhelming. However, there’s one thing I’ve been doing that has helped make travel more seamless: I only take a carry-on bag with me so I can get in and out of the airport quickly.
Monos Carry-On Pro Plus
Finding the right suitcase required a lot of trial and error—some were too big, others too small, and many were too heavy for my tiny hands to lift to the top. But eight months ago I came across the Monos Carry-On Pro Plus, and it has quickly become my travel companion for flying domestically and internationally.
For starters, the luxuriously designed suitcase is an organized person’s dream. Inside, you’ll find a zippered panel that offers plenty of room to fit plenty of clothes, shoes, and toiletries, and another generously-sized compartment with a built-in compression pad to help keep multiple garments snug and firmly in place. There are also large and small zippered compartments for storing smaller items – I generally like to use those for my socks and underwear. On the outside, there’s a padded compartment to store your laptop and all your tech essentials, which I’ve found to be a total game-changer when I go to work. Oh, and don’t sleep on packing cubes! If you’re an over-packer like me, you should be able to fit everything you need into the extra space.
The design of the bag also stood out to me. It’s made from a polycarbonate shell that’s not only incredibly strong, but also keeps the shape of the bag, no matter how much you stuff it inside, you’ll never worry about your bag being too big for the top. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve packed everything in a carry-on only to have TSA agents tell me at the gate that it’s too big and needs to be checked – huge frustration. Other highlights include the 360-degree spinner wheels that make transporting the case anywhere, its lightweight construction, and the TSA-approved combination lock to ensure all your belongings are secure.
The case comes in several colors (I have it in olive green) and is also available in larger sizes to check out. I’d say it marks a tad easier, but that’s easy to clean up – just use an eraser sponge. And besides, what’s a tried-and-true bag without a few tricks? Personally, I think it adds to the charm and shows that this bag has seen some places. In fact, mine: He’s been to Charleston, South Carolina, Sardinia, and England so far—and I can’t wait to see where he goes with me next.
