Canyon, Texas – The Lady Buffs continue their road swing Thursday night as they travel to Lawton, Oklahoma for Lone Star Conference action against the Cameron Aggies, set for 5:30pm in the Aggie Gym.

The UT Tyler Patriots shot 64.3% in the first half and led by 27 points at halftime in a 76-54 Lone Star Conference crossover victory over the #17 Lady Buffs on Saturday afternoon at the Herrington Veterans Center in Tyler, Texas.

Thabach diving As a junior from Boise, Idaho led the way for the Lady Buffs, going 7-of-10 from the floor, including 1-of-4 from deep and 6-of-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 21 points. Corey Allensworth, a sophomore guard from Sulphur, Oklahoma, leads the way offensively for the Aggies. 58 (69%) from the free throw line, averaging 11.7 points per game with 72 rebounds (12 offensive, 60 defensive), 22 assists, 22 steals and one block.

Cameron finished the 2021-22 campaign 17-11 overall, going 11-5 in LSC action while advancing to the quarterfinals of the LSC Championship. The Aggies picked up an 88-85 home win over Eastern New Mexico before falling to Texas A&M-Commerce, 80-65, at the Comerica Center.

CU head coach Jeff Mahoney
Jeff Mahoney was named head coach of the Aggie women’s basketball program in May 2022 after three seasons as an assistant coach. Mahoney helped the Aggies to 41 wins, including 17 in 2022, while on Cameron’s bench. In addition to serving as the women’s assistant coach, Mahoney also took charge of the men’s team midway through the 2021-22 season.

Sunday afternoon marks the 55th all-time meeting on the hardwood between the Lady Buffs and Aggies, as WT holds a 49-5 advantage in the series dating back to 1982. As they left the last two trips to Lawton.

The 2022-23 LSC basketball schedule features 16 women’s teams in two divisions. Each team plays a double-robin schedule within their division. Additionally, teams will play eight cross-overs against opposing divisions for a total of 22 LSC games.

West Texas A&M is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in all of Division II.

The 2021-22 campaign saw WT claim six Lone Star Conference championships, three LSC tournament crowns, two regional championships and four top-5 track and field finishes, including the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Women’s National Championships. WT Volleyball kicked off 2022-23 on a high note as it secured the program’s fourth national title in early December.
