On the 90th edition of the “Have Aloha Will Travel” podcast, Kevin Allen returns and joins Catherine Toth Fox and Grace Madden. When working on the Summer 2022 issue of HAWAI’I Magazine, the crew answered Kevin.

In the pages of the latest issue, readers will find great adventures to add to their travel bucket lists as well as emotional life stories in Hawaii. From art Oma These stories delve into Hawaii’s natural history and unique culture, tracing how the first native bee arrived on the islands.
We cut into a bowl of Hawaii’s favorite frozen treat at Shimazu Shave Ice. You’ll see a colorful rainbow of ice cream and azuki beans on the bottom.

And of course, we have insider tips too. In this issue, we let readers know how the locals love shaving snow. Here, finely shaved ice is drizzled in sugary syrup with flavors that encompass every color of the rainbow. The powder-like ice bowl is filled with ingredients such as azuki beans (sweet Japanese red beans), mochi balls, ice flakes, Haupia Cream and Li Hing.
