Traveling parents don’t have to worry about where to store breast milk for their newborn — as long as they’re staying at a Kimpton hotel, anyway.
In a joint press release parade, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants This month, it announced the launch of a demand-based family fridge program. Providing ‘mini me milk coolers’ to guests with the aim of ensuring that traveling parents have adequate storage for breast milk.
The new program was launched because of insufficient travel accommodations for families with young children, according to the release.
According to Kimpton, the travel and hotel industry has historically not met the needs of breastfeeding guests by not providing appropriate refrigeration options for breast milk.
“Because in-room hotel refrigerators do not reach the proper temperature for safe breast milk storage, Kimpton saw a need for an in-room solution that would alleviate stress among guests,” the company said in a release.
Kimpton Mini Me Milk Refrigerators are available to guests at the front desk of more than 70 Kimpton properties. The refrigerators are delivered directly to guest rooms “as a complimentary service to alleviate the stress that often comes with family travel.”

Kimpton describes the refrigerators as “specially capable of maintaining the ideal temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit (according to the CDC) for storing cold milk.”
Which should help give parents some peace of mind and maybe even more room for food in the fridge – a new kid-friendly travel standard, if you ask us.
The company also announced that it has improved accommodations for any of its employees to breastfeed. Each property provides a dedicated refrigerator for employees during the workday, allowing them to store breast milk safely and confidentially.
