The Hawaii trip should be on hold now. why not?

We are in the summer season when we expect the number of visitors to drop. That’s traditional. But based on the numbers and what we’re seeing here on the ground, that’s just not happening.

Hawaii travel usually begins to reach the peak of summer in mid-June. It gets busier as we get closer to July 4th and it gets even busier until August 1st. After that, arrival numbers drop steadily until the Christmas and New Year holidays. But not this year.

By the end of summer, it was up 10% compared to 2019.

For the last eleven days, starting August 1, this summer, domestic receipts were 321,613 compared to 292,165 in 2019. This seems very unusual to us, given the economic climate and people on their domestic and international vacations.

So what’s going on?

111 1. An unsatisfied request has not yet been made. While many people are traveling to Hawaii due to Covid or making up for lost time this year, others are still waiting for their chance to enjoy a long-awaited Hawaii vacation.

2. Airfare is low. Flights to Hawaii from the mainland West Coast are relatively inexpensive. Even last-minute August flights to Hawaii cost as little as $300 round-trip, including all taxes and fees. Then, starting next month, those will drop another $100 on average. Aik

3. Hawaii is an accessible, homey, yet tropical vacation.

Why are late summer and fall so popular for Hawaii vacations?

Best weather of the year. While Hawaii is known for its great weather year-round, summer and late fall are a secret find with balmy warm days and cooler than summer nights.
