Former University of Michigan basketball captain Jordan Morgan and his wife KT Maviglia-Morgan , Miss Michigan 2014, won the first place TechTown Start Studio award for their online personal travel guide on Arrival.

Morgan, who has played with nine professional basketball teams in six countries, and Mavelia-Morgan created the company based on a shared love of travel. On Arrival offers personalized guides to all the country’s major cities and popular destinations overseas.

“We’re taking orders for any city,” Morgan said. “We’ve done vacation guides for Paris, Venice, Tahiti and Cheboygan and Northern Michigan. Our goal is to help people enjoy traveling more and worry less about it.

The website is tailored to each traveler by identifying their destination and specific travel details such as reason for travel, location, places to visit and places to eat. The guides come in standard or deluxe sizes which include 10 and 20 tips respectively. A standard guide costs $20 and a deluxe guide costs $40.

Morgan says every travel experience is unique to the individual traveler, so the service asks as many questions as possible to understand the customer and what they expect from their trip. On arrival it looks at food, atmosphere, attractions and drink choices.

Maviglia-Morgan says one aspect that many don’t consider is distance. “You can find long recommendations for cities like Paris, but how far are you willing to travel? Many of these recommendations may not be suitable for your trip.

Upon arrival, customers will be prompted to plan their trip after receiving their guide, and the website will provide everything they need, including photos, reviews, booking links, tickets, and even personal notes from Jordan and Katie.

The couple, who recently returned to Michigan after living in Venice, Italy, while Morgan played with Umana Rayer Venezia, hopes the service will help their traveling companions embrace new cultures and new experiences.
