It’s an exciting time for Duluth’s Advance. The technology startup company was ranked on the INC 5,000 list, placing it in the top 10% of the 5,000 companies nationwide.
We spoke to one of the co-founders who says he started as a seller on Amazon in 2014. A few years later, he was able to start his own business.
“In 2017, my co-founder Matt and I were both from the Twin Ports, we were already established, and our business really grew from there,” Joe Shelrud shared.
There are four offices around Duluth, but Advantage is soon expanding to a fifth location, hoping to bring in more clients and employees.
“One thing we do when we grow the team is take a people and culture approach first,” Shelrud said. “The skills are very important, but we know we can train for the skills. And one of the things that’s great about hiring locally is that we’re able to get really good people to help build our team and our culture, which we feel sets us apart as a whole.
The new location will open next month on First Street in Duluth. The current location is located at 222 W. Superior St, Suite 100.
